Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid?
Botulinum toxin works by relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, helps to restore volume, hydrate the skin and fill in certain hollows. These two treatments can be used in combination, but they do not have the same effect.
Does botulinum toxin cause the face to freeze?
No, provided the treatment is correctly dosed and tailored to the patient’s anatomy. The aim is to relax certain muscle contractions whilst maintaining a natural appearance.
When do the effects start to show?
The initial effects become apparent gradually in the days following the injection. The full results are usually visible between one and two weeks after the treatment.
How long do the results last?
The duration varies depending on the patient and the areas treated. On average, the effects last for several months, often between four and six months.
Can you go back to work after having an injection?
Yes, you can usually resume your normal work and social activities immediately after the session. However, you may experience some temporary redness or slight bruising.
