Breast Lift or Mastopexy
Lifting the breasts with a natural result
Over time, after pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or the natural ageing of tissues, the breasts may lose firmness and begin to sag. This is known as breast ptosis.
A breast lift, also called mastopexy, lifts the breasts, repositions the areolas, and restores a more harmonious shape.
In Paris, Dr Thibault Trévidic offers a personalised approach to breast lift surgery, with one objective: to restore a higher, more balanced breast shape that remains naturally adapted to the silhouette.
The surgical plan is defined according to the degree of sagging, skin quality, existing breast volume, areola position, and the patient’s expectations.
Breast lift alone, with implants or with lipofilling?
A breast lift corrects breast sagging, but it does not always aim to increase breast volume.
When the existing breast volume is sufficient, mastopexy alone can lift the breasts and improve their shape.
When volume is insufficient or the patient wishes for a fuller breast shape, a breast implant or breast lipofilling can be combined during the same procedure.
The choice of technique depends on morphology, desired volume, tissue quality, and the expected result.
Procedure, recovery and result
A breast lift is performed under general anaesthesia. The procedure usually lasts between one hour and a half and two hours, depending on the correction required and any associated procedures.
Excess skin is removed, the glandular tissues are reshaped, and the areolas are repositioned to restore fullness, projection, and a more harmonious breast shape.
After the procedure, a compressive dressing is applied, then replaced by a medical support bra worn for several weeks. Moderate swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness may occur during the first few days.
The breasts gradually regain a higher position and a more harmonious curve. The result continues to improve over several months as the tissues soften and the scars evolve.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between breast lift and mastopexy?
They refer to the same procedure. A breast lift, or mastopexy, lifts sagging breasts, removes excess skin, and repositions the areolas.
Does a breast lift increase breast volume?
Not necessarily. Mastopexy lifts the breasts and improves their shape. If additional volume is desired, a breast implant or breast lipofilling may be combined.
Where are the scars located?
Scars depend on the degree of sagging and the technique used. They may be located around the areola, vertically below the areola, and sometimes in the inframammary fold.
When can the final result be seen?
An improvement is visible quickly, but the final result is assessed after several months, once the tissues have stabilised and the scars have continued to mature.
Can a breast lift be combined with breast augmentation?
Yes. When the breasts are both sagging and lacking volume, a breast lift can be combined with breast implants or breast lipofilling.
